A NEW transistor from Texas Instruments Ltd., is completely British in conception. development and production.

So, 64 years ago, starts a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of October 26 1960

The story continues:

This is the first device to originate entirely from the Bedford works, and we are assured it will not be the last.

Texas Instruments, US, are interested in the device, but it has not been decided yet whether they will import from the UK, or will manufacture to the British design in the States.

The transistor is a silicon alloy pnp type, and will make available a complementary pair in its range. A special feature of the device is its low saturation voltage 130mV, the cut-off frequency is 1 Mc/s, dissipation 250mW, and the temperature rating 150°C. It is available now.
