Gleichmann supports NEC’s FreeRTOS offering

NEC Electronics is offering users of its 78K0R 16-bit microcontroller series and the 32-bit V850 MCU family the opportunity to use the licence-free real-time operating system, FreeRTOS, in their developments.

FreeRTOS has been developed specifically for embedded microcontroller systems and is distributed under a modified GPL licence.

By announcing the support for FreeRTOS, NEC is the latest microcontroller supplier to tap into the growing industry in effectively free open-source software for design of embedded systems.

The FreeRTOS documentation, source code and program examples for 78K0R and V850 microcontrollers are available for download from distributor MSC-Gleichmann.

The distributor will also answer user questions relating to the use of FreeRTOS in combination with NEC Electronics’ 78K0R and V850 microcontroller families.
